Another Nola bird spotting

As I read one of the stories posted about a rare red bird that visited someone in Tahoe after Nola's flight, I realized that I had a Nola bird visit as well. Upon waking the day after Nola's passing, my heart still heavy and hurting, I looked outside my kitchen window and saw a bright red Hawaiian cardinal fly and land on a bush just outside. I stood and watched this bird as it stayed for several minutes and then flitted around from branch to branch. As I watched the bird I felt the heaviness in my heart lift, a smile form on my face, and I felt joy. I have lived in Hawaii for 4 years now, and this is only the third time I have seen one of these bright red birds. I didn't realize at the time, but I now believe it was a Nola bird, sent to say goodbye and turn my grief into joy. That would be just like her.
