We are heartsick for you, David, and can only imagine the agony you are going through.  All this time, we have come to know the true character of Nola -- the bravery, the bright spirit, the absolute drive and charisma -- but now we have come to know what you are made of ... that could not have been an easy letter to write.  What a gift you are giving and have given to that lady Nola.  She has been a very fortunate gal, and I know she knows that.
